October 22, 2012—James C. Wise, Jr., CCH|Akron, OH. Good Day! Compassionate Care Hospice was a God send for my father and our family. Having a medical background, you think you can handle the process of your loved one passing and what will be happening to them and your family. Well, I was very wrong, I was so lost in the beginning until your hospice stepped in to help. I then felt like I was part of a team in helping with my father’s care and comfort. I also felt as though I could take a step back for a moment and get a breath knowing that “our team” was there if needed day or night. I felt like I had people to help not only my father, but our family whenever we needed them. It gave me such comfort in knowing that no matter what my father was going through physically and emotionally, our team was there to hold not only him, but all of us up.
Our team consisted of, Denise R.N., Jackie “0″ and Ivy. Denise was always there for us it seemed no matter what day or time. She was always there with what seemed to be the right direction to go in regards to my father’s pain management and medical care. She was right on top of everything medically for us and even at times seemed like she was a step ahead which was good also. She explained everything to us, before, during and after medically and what we could expect. She prepared us for what was to come with my father physically but also she was such a comfort emotionally. We trusted her judgement explicitly. Jackie “0″ was there also emotionally for my entire family. Not only was she there when my father needed to speak with someone about his feelings that he could not convey to his family, but she was also right there for us also. She had a very calming presence and you felt safe with whatever feelings you wanted to portray with her. She came to my rescue when I had not had a night’s sleep in my own bed. She and the chaplain, which was also a wonderful comfort, came and stayed with my father overnight. I can’t tell you what that meant to me and I felt calm and safe leaving him in their hands. For someone to give up their sleep for me, I will never forget their kindness.
Ivy was such a wonderful comfort for my father. She bathed my father and took care of his physical needs. I could only do so much in that arena for him, but she took over and made him feel so much better about himself. After a bath the first time, she took my father outside in his favorite rocking chair and shaved him. You don’t know what a blessing that was to see my father, being so sick and weak having a proper bath and being shaved. She also spent time afterwards just talking to my Dad. He liked talking to her just about anything, I think he enjoyed conversation with her because it was not about his illness and it wasn’t with me. I was with him constantly and I know it helped seeing and talking to a new face. He always couldn’t wait till it was her day to return. Even after I would give him a sponge bath, he would say, “When is Ivy coming back?!”
Each team member was so very special in not only my father’s care, but my family’s well being. They helped us not only with his physical needs, but emotional also for the entire family. I don’t
know what we would have done without our team helping us and guiding us through this process. I know that God picked all of these ladies out just for us. They helped make every moment count that we had left with my father and his journey to go home with God a bearable experience and a comfortable as possible experience especially for my father. We saw them on a daily basis and knew and felt comfort in their presence. I cannot say enough about each member of our team, and believe me, I could go on and on about how wonderful each and everyone of them were.
I would recommend your hospice to anyone that I knew going through this end of life experience with a loved one. I would absolutely be someone that another person could call if they had any questions before picking your services. We felt like you were family and we will always, forever be grateful for your love, care and compassion.—Sincerely, Kelly S. Stiles, Daughter of James C. Wise Jr.
October 12, 2012—Patricia Gray, of WI. To Everyone at Compassionate Care: Words cannot express our gratitude to all of you who gave our mother such love and care.
This was our first experience with Hospice care. You have proved to be what you are named. We will definitely recommend your services to people in need.
I was so impressed by the initial care she received. She was given a bath, had a fresh gown and was given oral care twice within her first hour back at Lake Terrace. You spoke to her and held her hand. She was treated like she was your mother.
As the next couple of days became more difficult for us to witness, the staff helped calm us. Our mom was lovingly making the transition home.
We appreciated Pastor Herb and his comforting presence.
Please accept our deepest gratitude. You are all wonderful. Thanks for holding our hands and making it easier to let mom go.—The Family of Patricia Gray.

June 26, 2012—Rose Pope. We cannot thank enough all the staff with Compassionate Care Hospice from Marmora, for their care especially the times we had an issue mainly weekends or nights. When we called the triage nurse on call, she explained clearly what we needed to do or send a nurse to have our Mom re-evaluated even one time at 2:30 in the morning after a power outage in our home. It was so reassuring to know we were not alone caring out Mom’s dying wish to die in her own home. She died so peacefully as she entered into our Lords hands. Such a blessing. The staff took extra measures to ensure we had the medical supplies, medical equipment, and medications as prescribed per the house doctor. Also the social worker made sure the caregivers were taken care of along with the person terminally ill, which was such a comfort. There were so many staff members in the Marmora office that helped us…hard to mention all their names plus don’t want to leave anyone out unintentionally.—Sincerely, Tom and Caroline Pope.
June 18, 2012—Nguyet Tran. To Viet Duong Team, A Division of Compassionate Care Hospice We really appreciate your services and are extremely grateful to have Viet Duong as the hospice to take care of my wife! Thank you so much for the kindness, caring generosity that was shown to my wife, Nguyet Tran, and our family in our time of need. We really appreciate each and everyone one of you that have brought not only compassion, but also excellent care for Nguyet Tran. Our lives are touched by the amazing individuals that have made a great impact in our lives. We are very grateful to have met and got to know the many great employees of Viet Duong that worked together to take care of my wife. We don’t know what we would have done without all of you. Viet Duong Compassionate Care Hospice gave us a lot of peace of mind and we will forever be grateful for it. My wife, Nguyet Tran, passed away on June 2, 2012 and thankfully finally without pain in her last moments. She had been treated for breast cancer for 5 long years until the doctors gave up on her February 27, 2012. That was when Viet Duong, Compassionate Care Hospice came to take care of my wife. I would like to acknowledge a few individuals that made the experience with Compassionate Care Hospice a very meaningful and excellent one. RN Nurse Ivy Huynh went above and beyond her duty. She gave excellent advice and instructions on how to care for a patient. Nurse Ivy explained clearly the side effects and told us everything there is to know about many of the pain medications prescribed. Nurse Ivy was of great help in assisting my wife to manage the pain and she always made sure that my wife always had enough medical supplies such as the necessary medical equipment, bandages, and medication; on time as needed. She is a wonderful caring individual. My wife and I felt like she was a family member. Whenever RN Nurse Ivy came over for a visit my wife mentioned that my wife forgets that she is in pain and feels more energetic, eats more, and sleeps well. RN Nurse IV communicated to us in a very clear manner making sure that we understood completely what was explained. We missed her a lot when she left to have her baby. She was the first person that called and expressed her sympathy and condolences when my wife d! ied. Nurse Tam seems to have the magic touch. She cleaned my wife’s tumor wounds very well. She also called to express her condolences and I appreciate that too. Mrs. Xuyen is a very hard worker and she did everything exactly right that we prefer. Mrs. Xuyen did more than she needed to; Mrs. Xuyen went above and beyond what is usually required in her job description. We never had any problems with her. She was excellent at what she did. I was able to take a break outside and never had to worry or monitor her when she was there to help my wife bathe and replace her bandages. She was very gentle to my wife when bathing her and made it as comfortable as possible for my wife. My wife was always very happy to see her when it was her days to come by and help. She did not know my wife pass away immediately since she was transferred a few weeks before my wife passed, but as soon as she found out she came to both the open casket ceremony and burial. I would like to thank Dai Trang, her mom and sister for attending my wife’s open casket funeral and Mrs. Chi as well. My children and I wish to thank all of them tremendously for their extremely excellent services for caring for their dear mother. Other hospice patients are very lucky to have these wonderful hardworking ladies a part of their compassionate care team. We wish you all the very best. Please keep doing what you do because you give many families hope when things seem at their most bleak. You all are the ones that truly care about the patients till the very end, literally. God Bless America.—Quan Vo.
It was only my responsibility. Thank you so much.—Xuyen Ly.
