CCH|Bensalem Creates Memory Books For Families

CCH | Bensalem – July 18, 2012

CCH creates a Memory Book for families as part of our Life Enhancement Program. The book is 8×8 inches and about 20 pages when completed.

In order to create this Memory Book, family members are asked for photos that we can scan, or family members can e-mail photos to our office. Our Reminiscence Aides will use the photos, along with stories and memories from the family, which we will incorporate into the Memory Book. We typically ask for 20-40 pictures that highlight life events such as: childhood, work experience, military, wedding, holiday photos, photos of each child, and grandchild, as well as, family group photos.

We understand how special these photographs are to each of our families. Therefore, we don’t use any original materials in the Memory Books. We protect these materials by simply scanning the photos and later print copies to use in the Memory Book. Our Scrapbook Volunteers meet monthly to assemble the Memory Books using the copied photos, along with the stories or memories shared.

We invite all of our family members to contribute to the Memory Book by e-mailing photos or memories. This can be especially helpful for out-of-town family that would like to participate. The “memory” from each child and grandchild can be as simple as “I remember grandma’s house always smelled like cookies” or it can be a short story. All memories need to fit on a 3 x 5 inch card (typed) so that it will fit on a page with a photo.

It is our intention to celebrate each of our patients, and the life’s journey that they led.
